I reported it to the clubhouse and said something to him but it was a real bad look. Especially it being a kid from the youth on course program :/

Hopefully he will never do it again.

Good job reporting it and letting the kid know his actions weren’t acceptable.

Golf got extremely popular since covid

  5. What person that’s not a pro is getting so mad they destroy the green? It’s a hard ass game, woooosaaa

If he’s a member / in a programme, make him apologise and spend a couple hours with the greens keeping team doing their job.

Not to punish, but so he sees the people behind the course and understands what they do.

Meh. Kids have to learn just like everyone else. Take a moment to educate them and help them deal with their anger in a more constructive way. My way is bourbon 😄

    I have a 10yo & 7yo that know and do better.

Tell your greens keeper to put some water on those greens. That divot looks a day old how dry it is! Sand or no sand!

Dayum, the kid did it on all our behalfs i reckon. But yeah not acceptable.. depends on the age but anything above 14 hours be a ban, anything under 14 should be a stern telling and a fine for the parents/guardian

That’s not fresh, nice try #ShrinkTheGame diddy

  12. Kids got to learn somehow. You did the right thing.

I once, and never again, rage reinstalled the flag and took a good chunk out of the lip of the hole. Immediately calmed me down and then I immediately reported it. But I lied and said the wind blew the flag just as I was setting it in. Doubt they bought it, but it was windy.

Bottle it up and take it out on your next drive, like a real golfer.

  15. TheRopeWalk

Have him walk the course and fill divots with the groundcrew for a day

Shitheads that can’t putt are always the most infuriating ragers. Bet $1000 he hasn’t spent 30 minutes cumulative in his life practicing putting.

It’s beginning to be my favorite time of the year. When kids go back to school.

When I was 20 and first started seriously golfing I was playing a former PGA tour stop course and totally getting my ass kicked. On 17 I slapped my ball away and took a divot from the green right next to the cup. My dad slapped on the back of the head and went ballistic on me for disrespecting the course. Never again have I done anything like that!

Honestly, you just gotta learn your lesson by someone teaching you.

  19. Looks like the print you se on the fake Bigfoot shows except from a tiny Bigfoot.

  20. Going_Native

A kid on my golf team in HS did this and our coach made him volunteer time to the course to remain on the team.

Yeah this is a fake store.

The edges of the divot are browned and dried, and the surrounding turf is already starting to fill in, which usually takes at least a day or two. A fresh divot would have bright green, moist grass and cleaner soil edges without that dried-out look.

If the person directly in front really made it, they’d have to have somehow created instant turf dehydration which isn’t likely.

Understandable and you were there but that doesn’t look that fresh… I don’t remember the last time I took a divot on a green but still.

  23. Steele724

I don’t miss this during the summer time. My old course was packed with high school kids during the summer.

I did this once. I was just trying to angrily get it off the green. Took a divot, was immediately embarrassed and mortified. I apologized to the group I was playing with, went to the starter and told them what I did and asked if I could apologize to the super (they weren’t there). I asked if there was anything else I could do and they said, don’t worry it’s fine. It wasn’t though and I’ll never forget how fucking stupid I felt.

  25. feaz56744

Looks like the edges and other parts of the divot are slightly raised above the level of the green. The fact that the green doesn’t look too shaggy, makes me think the divot is fresh. Otherwise, the mower would have flattened the edges. If the kid has to work with the grounds crew to atone, make sure he gets there at 5am like the rest of the crew so he really understands what it’s like.

The worst, I have been an assistant superintendent for 4 years; there is a special place in hell for these kinds of people. Report him to the pro shop. SHRINK THE GAME.
